PACKING:

Clothing:

  • Comfortable and functional yoga clothing (whatever that means to you) for both cold and warm weather. Morning practice tends to be pretty cold, so bring layers.

  • Women, plan to bring at least 3 pairs of leggings as you will sweat a lot.

  • Light, breathable, covered clothing for exploring (something to keep the sun off that’s not too hot).

  • Layers are you best friend here. The mornings and evenings are COLD, but midday the sun is hot and STRONG.

  • Warm sleepwear of your choice.

  • Easily layered tops (long sleeves, short sleeves, and tanks)

  • Jacket and/or thick sweater (it’s COLD in the morning and evening)

  • Warm trousers (it might be cold during early mornings and evenings) like jeans and/or warm, cozy sweats.

  • Sarong (useful as a scarf, shawl, blanket, etc)

  • Socks (bring at least TWO pair of thicker, warm socks in addition to regular day wear socks)

  • Hat (suggested wide brim as the sun is STRONG)

  • Beanie (especially if you get cold easily)

  • Sandals

  • Closed toed shoes

  • Hiking boots are optional (we won’t need them for our excursions, but if you’re staying on to do longer hikes, then bring them)

*Please note the markets have HEAPS of warm, knit sweaters, socks, beanies, scarves, etc. You can always buy extra goods when you arrive if you don’t feel equipped.

Miscellaneous Items:

  • Yoga mat

*The venue has mats, blocks, straps, and bolsters- however, the mats aren’t the best. If you have one you like to practice with, best to bring it with you.

  • Additional yoga props you can’t live without

  • Reusable water bottle

*Let’s do our best to reduce single use plastic!

  • Bug repellent

  • Sunscreen (strong, but chemical free!)

  • Rehydration salts (these are really important with high altitude and super dry air)

  • Toiletries of your choice (shampoo, conditioner, soap, razor, lotion, etc)

  • Thick moisturizer as it’s really dry in the mountains (I like shae butter)

  • Camera

  • Adapter for charging/outlets

  • Any medications or medical needs

  • Travel pillow

  • Poncho for bags if they’re not waterproof

 Dress Standards:

  • Please note that most locals dress quite modestly. However, there aren’t any hard “rules” around what’s okay to wear. Most of this modest dress simply comes from cultural style of clothing, as well as weather.

  •  It’s okay to wear tank tops and wear shorts. Please keep in mind that the sun is very STRONG in the Sacred Valley, so most people actually find it cooler and more protective to wear light, covering clothing.

Transport:

  • CUSCO has the closest airport to the Sacred Valley. If you book your international flight in/out of LIMA, then you can either book a domestic flight to Cusco or a bus. We suggest a flight, as it’s only 1 hour.

  • Samadhi Sacred Valley is about 1.5 - 2 hours away from Cusco airport depending on traffic. Please keep this in mind for the arrival day.

  • Airport transport is NOT provided, as we’re sure many people will stay later or arrive earlier to enjoy the plethora of activities that Peru has to offer.

  • Please book transport to Samadhi Sacred Valley through the retreat venue ONLY to ensure your driver knows where to go. The cost is $36/120 soles from Cusco (one way). Email: reservations@samadhisacredvalley.com to book.

Meals:

  • All meals are organic and vegan.

  • If you have any allergies, please let us know.

  • Feel free to keep additional snacks in your room, or in the kitchen.

  • Breakfast is available before AND after practice depending on your preference for eating.

  • Lunch will be the heartiest meal of the day, and dinner will be quite light.

  • Lunch will be available around 12 – 1 pm daily, but if you’re out and about we can always save your’s for when you return.

Additional Info:

  • May is the tail end of the rainy season in Peru. This month is meant to be mostly dry, but with global warming and climate change- weather is more unpredictable than ever. Weather tends to be COLD in the mornings, quite HOT during the day, and then pretty COLD at night. It should be mostly dry. Pack waterproof clothing in case.

  •  Because it’s cold at night, I suggest packing WARM sleepwear. This includes at least TWO thick, longer pairs of socks.

  •  It’s super important to pack clothing that’s easy to layer, as we can experience a full range of climates within just a few hours.

  •  Please note that rain means that laundry might take a little longer (due to drying). Pack accordingly.

  •  You can buy all sorts of clothing at the local market. They sell anything you might have forgotten or didn’t realize you needed (warm scarves, hats, beanies, socks, sweaters, etc).

  •  Please note that we are staying outside of any major towns. This means it will take about 30 minutes to town (one way). If you forget something, we can always arrange for transport to take to town (additional cost to be paid directly to driver). You can find all toiletry and medical needs in town if needed.

  •  Please bring USD and also local currency should you want to purchase anything additional. The closest ATM is about 30 minutes away, so it’s best to have at least a bit of cash on hand.

  •  We’d like to do our best to reduce single use plastic. PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE to refill. If you’d like to take it a step further (and you feel comfortable), you can also purchase a LifeStraw to drink any water, anywhere.

  • ***note that GLOW Yoga Retreats does not guarantee the use of LifeStraw, and is not liable nor responsible for any illness that may occur.

  • Ask your doctor or medical advisor about vaccines and/or suggested medication. We do not have any medical professionals on our team to give proper advice regarding medicine and/or vaccines for Peru. It is YOUR CHOICE what you decide to take/get injected.

  • All meals are provided (vegan only), but if you know that you want to keep snacks in your cottage- please pack them.
